Talk, Don't Text!

How dialing your honey's digits can save a relationship.

One heartfelt phone call or 50 fragmented text messages?

I like talking on the phone. I love to hear the voices of the people I care about. Many times, a heartfelt chat on the horn with a friend or relative has reversed my bad mood, lifted my spirits and changed my perspective on life. Phone calls have power. They can even add depth to romance. The article below from Psychology Today describes how talking trumps texting when building intimacy in relationships.

Here's an excerpt:

Every time you check your phone in company, what you gain is a hit of stimulation, a neurochemical shot, and what you lose is what a friend, teacher, parent, lover, or co-worker just said, meant, felt.

Think about it, that little smart phone deprives us from hearing words, meaning, and feeling.

And there's this:

Texting “I love you,” can be sweet, but it can also become robotic with a heart emoji or a kiss.  While it is fun to receive a love note, it may be far less meaningful than a quick phone call. Telling someone in a sincere tone of voice, “I called to say I love you because you were so supportive when I was falling apart this morning,” is more powerful than any text.
